Leave a legacy in your will
Leaving a gift to Faith in Families is a wonderful way of supporting vulnerable children in our community. Choosing to leave a gift in your will can make all the difference to a child’s future. Every donation made to Faith in Families really does change children’s lives and we rely on our voluntary income to enable us to deliver our much needed work throughout our community.
Why should you leave a gift to Faith in Families?
The gift of family life to a child is priceless. Many of the children placed for adoption by Faith in Families are trying to overcome the effects of abuse and neglect. To enable us to provide lifelong support to adopted children and their families we are dependent upon the generosity of those who support us and those who remember us in their Wills. Anyone leaving a legacy to the Agency is creating hope for future generations. The knowledge that, long after you have gone, you can continue to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and to know that your contribution, however small, will be spent on supporting children and families is immensely satisfying.
There are many different ways to support the Agency but leaving a legacy is one of the most important. In these times of complex family relationships and even more complex tax and inheritance rules, writing a Will and keeping it up-to-date is becoming more important. If you die without a Will and have no immediate next of kin, the Inland Revenue are entitled to any assets you have built up during your lifetime. Writing a Will to make sure your family know your wishes will prevent this, and leaving a small legacy to charity is tax free!
How do leave a gift in my will?
If you wish to write your Will, or amend an existing one, then you should see your Solicitor for expert advice. Legacies are special instructions to the executors of your Will, advising them that you are leaving a small donation to a special cause or group. This donation can be in the form of money, shares, jewellery, property, paintings, individual pieces of furniture or even the contents of your house. A legacy can be as large or as small as you wish. However, you should always seek professional advice on this matter.
Once you are happy that you have looked after your nearest and dearest, please can we ask that you remember Faith in Families in your Will?
