Katie Sutton, Account Manager at Ginger Root, is running four half marathons within five months to raise money and awareness for Faith in Families.
Katie is amazing! With two half marathons down and two left to go, we caught up with Katie to find out how she was finding the challenge so far.
What’s been the hardest thing about the challenge so far?
I think it has to be finding the time to keep up with the training. When you start running for longer distances, you have to block out a couple of hours to do so, so finding the time to do that outside of work can be a challenge.
What has been your highlight so far?
Definitely crossing the finishing line. Nothing beats that feeling when you know you’ve completed the run in a time that you were aiming for and can head straight for a post run treat!
What have you learned since starting the challenge that you wished you’d known before?
What the impact on my feet would be. They’ve taken more of a battering than I anticipated so I’ve had to pay them more attention than I ever thought I would.
What is your post running victory meal?
It’s always a jacket potato with cheese and beans and plenty of butter with a side of garlic bread and a glass of prosecco. It is the perfect way to refuel for me and I look forward to it on my way around the course!
What would you say to someone who is thinking of doing a challenge for charity but is a little unsure?
Do it. It will obviously be challenging at times, but the benefit of seeing what you’re capable of and the benefits to the charity makes it totally worthwhile. There is no better feeling that achieving something you never thought you might be able to!
Katie’s next half marathon is in Erewash on 18th August and her final one is the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon on 30th September. To sponsor Katie and help raise money for Faith in Families, please visit her Just Giving page here (link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/katie-sutton8)
