Adoption Support Services
The Adoption Support Services of Faith in Families are designed to meet the needs of all parties and embrace a life cycle approach to adoption. We offer a range of services, some of which that are aimed at the family as a whole, as well as more specific services for parents and for children.
Our Adoption Support Services include:
- A regular support groups for parents, "Adopters All Together" which features a topic and speaker at every session.
- Annual training and workshops for parents on pertinent and current topics.
- A programme of social activities for the whole family, including a Summer Picnic and Children's Disco at Christmas.
- 'Reach', a Children's Group Service that offers a regular programme of activity-based groups for children of all ages throughout the year. Our dedicated Children's Group Social Worker actively seeks the input of children to ensure that all events planned appeal to a wide range of children and young people. The Groups offer an added benefit to parents by providing a respite opportunity during school holidays.
- A support network for adoptive parents and their children.
- A post adoption order visit to each family by our Adoption Support Manager and/or Senior Practitioner to look at the individual adoption support needs of each family and ensure the appropriate services are in place.
- Advice on a wide range of resources for adoptive parents and their children based on the Agency's extensive network, which operates both regionally and nationally.
- Access to our specialist Education Advisor.
- Services planned for the future include interactive web-pages as part of our current web site for both children and parents.
In addition, Faith in Families has played a leading role in the development of adoption support services negotiated and provided on a contractual basis.
