Bereavement Service – 'Spiral'

 

Faith in Families in partnership with Family Care, and Macmillan Cancer Support has launched 'Spiral', a Nottinghamshire Children's Bereavement Service.

'Spiral' will:

  • provide early support, and where appropriate, therapeutic interventions for bereaved children and young people and their families
  • act as a link between all services, both voluntary and statutory sector, regarding bereavement issues for children
  • provide awareness raising, resources and training to equip frontline staff in all Agencies to respond appropriately to children affected by bereavement.

Spiral, will as part of the service provide

  • Information on a range of bereavement services throughout the city and county
  • Telephone support, advice and information
  • Professional emotional support services for children and young people
  • A range of therapeutic approaches such as art, music, play.

In the future it hopes to also provide...

  • Group support programmes for bereaved children and young people and their families
  • A range of resources, in different languages, including website
  • Befriending and social support
  • Training and education opportunities for professionals and carers
  • Welfare rights
  • Volunteering opportunities
