Bereavement Service – 'Spiral'
Faith in Families in partnership with Family Care, and Macmillan Cancer Support has launched 'Spiral', a Nottinghamshire Children's Bereavement Service.
'Spiral' will:
- provide early support, and where appropriate, therapeutic interventions for bereaved children and young people and their families
- act as a link between all services, both voluntary and statutory sector, regarding bereavement issues for children
- provide awareness raising, resources and training to equip frontline staff in all Agencies to respond appropriately to children affected by bereavement.
Spiral, will as part of the service provide
- Information on a range of bereavement services throughout the city and county
- Telephone support, advice and information
- Professional emotional support services for children and young people
- A range of therapeutic approaches such as art, music, play.
In the future it hopes to also provide...
- Group support programmes for bereaved children and young people and their families
- A range of resources, in different languages, including website
- Befriending and social support
- Training and education opportunities for professionals and carers
- Welfare rights
- Volunteering opportunities
